she's got style

I love this pic of Jo.
As for the Piltz boys - they are a loveable odd bunch aren't they!

this expression is unique

I can't say that I'm a big fan of Madonna but she had some really interesting stuff to say about creativity and the role we all play in that. In the days leading up to Ellen officially 'coming out' in 1997 Madonna sent Ellen these words of wisdom from late modern dance legend Martha Graham.

"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique, and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it."

So beautiful.

The conversation Ellen and Madonna had either side of this quote was so interesting. Madonna talked about creative people never being satisfied with their work (oh boy can I relate!!) and that it's not our job to judge whether what we produce is good enough - it's our job to just produce it.

The 'material girl' makes a good point!

friday nights shenanigans

A few of your i-phone snaps from last friday nights shenanigans at Lucky Tsotsi.

a well dressed gentleman

Last Friday night we caught up with some old friends. What a night! As Mrs Garling later reflected "it was out of control!" That night will go down as one of my favourite nights of 2012.

Saturday was therefore a much slower paced day than I had planned. We pottered around at home for most of the day and you took me out on a dinner date that night.

You had asked me out for dinner weeks in advance - I love how you do that.

After dinner we went for a wonder through one of my favourite parts of Sydney.
You Mr Wonderful were well dressed that night ;)

ipkus turns 21

The boy with the big dimples, a cheeky smile and an amazing servant heart is 21!

This is by far my fav pic of the night - it's just too funny!
Poor grandma, she doesn't look too happy does she? Some random dude is trying to steal her bag...heheh. Love your work Dan, so subtle!
Introducing your trendy Asian brother.
The very shy birthday boy...clearly...
...and birthday boy's girl....ohh she so pretty!
Ahh, Uncle Rick, one of a kind! How many 50+ year olds are there who bring their skate board out to their son's 21st birthday dinner? He was clearly raised by someone who plays golf a few times a week... at the age of 85! You've got some good genes there honey!
Happy birthday Mitch - may we all be there to see you 'christen' countless more birthday cakes with your splatter!*
*I know that joke never jets lame does it :S

the lanes

We had lunch with the Lanes a few weeks back, I sat at the dinner table in amazement of the little lady Keisha has grown into.

I played with her for while and then she disappeared into the kitchen. She came back with a photo in her hand. It was her 1st birthday invitation. She stared at it and smiled and then leaned over to show me "that's me when I was little"...she giggled and then said "ohhh I'm little and so cute".

She is hilarious!

I hope when she looks back at these photos they also make her giggle and smile.

seafood cooking class

I was so cranky tonight. I spent 3 hours trying to sort out the slide show for kids games with no success.
To avoid feeling like I'd just wasted an entire night and to cheer myself up I decided I'd do a blog post.

So here goes!

A sea food cooking class with Sarah and Liam. I haven't looked at these photos since that night. I had no idea we were all so serious while cooking - we look hilarious! And by we I mean Liam :P

I laughed out loud when I saw this pic tonight...ahh I so needed that - thanks Sarah!
I call this one 'The Shades of Liam Cooking"...contemplative Liam, angry Liam, happy Liam!
And as for you two...well you're clearly in your element.
Me pretending to cook...heheh!
Oh and lets not forget the little surprise you thought you'd prepare for the kitchen staff who had to clean up after us. So thoughtful!

Thanks for a great night guys!!
