a tale of two hearts

merry christmas

So much to be thankful for but above all may God's greatest gift always be my greatest joy and I'm not talking about this handsome guy, as much as I completely and utterly adore him, how could you not, just look at him!

Merry Christmas everyone.
With love from our family to yours

keith and amy

- 8th July 2006 -

A week after J and I said our wedding vows, Keith and Amy said theirs on the other side of the world.

J and I met Keith and Amy years later and we just 'clicked'. You know when you go on a 'couple date', you know what I mean, don't pretend you don't! You know, where you've just met, you all get along really well and you're wondering if you're going to be compatible with them long term. Will they like doing similar stuff to us, do they like the restaurants we like, do they get our jokes, will we get theirs, you know the deal. Well as it turns out, these two love the beach and pretty much live there most weekends, J and I like going for walks on the beach, on occasion. Amy is a vegetarian, J not so much and when it comes to jokes, well we're Australian and they're British so there is always someone laughing but probably not for the right reason!

On the surface, we're probably not a natural fit, but we so are! We love these two and we feel so at home around them. They've become family, we can just 'be' in their company, no grand adventures need be planned or fancy dinners booked to have a great time with these two. We laugh, we share our deepest fears, worries and joys and know that while we may be different, we love and accept each other as we are.

So years after we met, I went in search of Keith and Amy's wedding photos and discovered that there wasn't many at all. They never had a chance to have a wedding shoot on their wedding day. So for the last three years we've talked about re-taking their wedding photos. We never really pinned down a date but Amy and I would chat about doing it from time to time. Last June I got a text out of the blue from Amy, asking me if I was available the following Saturday to take some photos of them in their wedding gear as we'd discussed. Yep, I was available but why the rush all of a sudden?

They were expecting!

Yes, the stunning Amy, is with child in these images.

So no these images are not taken on their wedding day, but 9 years later and there is something really special to me about that. The way a husband looks at his wife on their wedding day is one thing, but the true testament of the weight and gravity of the promises he made that day are most evident by the way he looks at her years down the track.

It was an absolute honour to be able to capture the way you guys look at each other...nearly a decade later.

on turning 31

Yep, I'm officially over the hill!
Just a little heads up to all the gorgeous 20 something girls I know - the view is so much better once you're over the hill, so get excited as you approach the big 30, don't dread it! Yes, I have lots more happy lines around my eyes and a whole bunch of other things aren't what they use to be. But I'm more comfortable in my skin then ever before and I suspect I'll feel even more comfortable when I hit the big 4-0!
Huge thank you to the boys (J, Brad and Lucas) for making me feel so loved on Friday.
And an especially big thank you to you J, for loving me so extravagantly.

Sitting on the boat with you two on Friday made me realise I've never felt more content, grateful and loved...my cup runneth over.

a day with the fitzgerald's

I think I've said this before somewhere on the blog but I really do mean it. I love it when I get to see our friends live out their dreams! Spending the day with you guys on your beautiful property was one of those moments for me.

We miss you guys sooo much at church but it was so satisfying to see the beautiful life you have created. Getting to grow up on a property where you can climb trees, look for wombats, explore a forest, run free chasing the birds...all while in your backyard. It's incredible, what a gift to give to your kids. Thank you for these memories and many more to come in the years ahead.

xx

Caitlin, I hope you know how cool your mum is to be so cool about you climbing trees!

Kev - these two photos are for you. See the one on the right, that's when she spotted you coming out of the house!

And just in case others thought I was just being polite in calling Bron a cool mum...I wasn't! Who said only boys can climb trees!! Go Caitlin!!

You know...just chilling and rolling around the grass.

Kev, this is your girl teaching us how wombats catch their food...she told us you taught her everything she knows.
Just look at that smile.

Lucas, this is that time Dad put your head down a wombat hole! Yes, seriously. I needed to take the photo just in case you don't believe me when I tell you later on in life! And was there an actual wombat in the hole? We weren't sure, that's why he put your head down to take a look :P
